I was a tad hungover this morning and my antidote of choice was watching a bit of old school scifi. Of late, Blakes 7 has been my tipple of choice. I was too young to really remember it back in the day, apart from a vague recollection of watching the very last episode (where everyone gets shot) with my father. However I am reveling in it's cynicism. Star Trek it aint.
Today I realised that the spooky sample at the start of UNKLE's Drums of Death part 1 on Psyence Fiction was lifted from a scene where Space Commander Travis has Blake et al on his scanners and is looking all sinister and leather clad. It was the second sample I've noticed, the other being by the band Spiderbait who lifted a bit of Servelan saying something elegantly wicked. Obviously Blake and co had something going on.
Not a bad tune either.
