Iceweasel is making me feel stupid! I simply cannot work out how to add google.co.uk to the list of available search engines. Well not in an easy way anyway.
Google UK isn't one of the engines I can choose from the drop down but I do get the option to 'manage search engines'. This lets me order the existing engines sends me here to add new engines. This lists a handful but not what I want. linux

... or user agent spoofing with Iceweasel.
I've started using Debian again recently (Lenny on my eee pc) after several years of solid Ubuntu use. Everything is working great but there are a couple of annoyances, one being that my bank doesn't let me use Iceweasel to bank online. if you've not followed the Debian Firefox/Iceweasel saga, I'm not going to re-hash it but you can get a good re-cap from wikipedia. I recently bought a freecom network drive. It's was cheap, i.e. the cheapest, but promised support for both kind of computers - Win and Mac. What could go wrong? One thing I really miss about Sydney is listening to the fantastic community radio station radio 2ser. Staffed largely by volunteers, 2ser delivers great music, arts, news and other community programming. Salvation is at hand as they do provide an internet stream. The bad news is that it's in Microsoft's ASF format which poses a bit of a challenge for users of Linux and other free operating systems. First impressions of Ubuntu's Dapper Drake

Well Ubuntu is now chugging through a dist-upgrade in the background to bring me dapper. This is the kind of thing I love Debian for, you can always rely on it pretty much working when you a dist-upgrade after a cock-eyed installation procedure. I hope this does.
I have been really impressed by Ubuntu's hardware autodetection. I guess it's great when it works, and it did on my pretty basic old p3 workhorse.
I used breezy for a few days and found the default environment pretty easy to use, but I found it hid a bit too much detail for me.
